Resumen
The present study deals with quota policies targeted at Afro-Brazilians in the city of Viamão-RS. Its main objective is to problematize the way the selection to occupy paid internship positions, positions of trust, and the selection in public contests which have already been established in Municipal Laws has been made. The problem of this study emerged from the way quota policies for Afro-Brazilians in the city of Viamão-RS have been implemented. With the purpose of investigation, it was chosen an exploratory study. Interviews with managers were conducted, bibliographic and documentary researches as well as the study of Municipal Laws concerning the issue of Affirmative Actions were done. The collected data have led to the conclusion that the Laws implemented in Viamão-RS show some inaccuracies and weaknesses in their content. It is concluded that in order to ensure the success of the project it is necessary to propose the adoption, by the City Administration, of an Affirmative Action Program that may manage all projects for inclusion of black citizen and other discriminated people, including organized groups of black social movement.
