Resumen
The urban expansion of brazilian cities results in several spheres that, when related to
society, can present positive and negative effects. The process of urban sprawl causes
spatial segregation, which shapes and originates the peripheries, which are sometimes
forgotten - invisible - when faced with the conditions of public spaces and access to
public policies. Currently, the city of Cachoeira do Sul shows a spatial inequality and
lack of public spaces with adequate infrastructure, especially in areas far from the urban center and of social vulnerability. In this sense, due to the importance of public
spaces and equipments for the quality of urban life, the present work aims to elaborate
a Community Center to support education, culture, sports and social assistance. The
intention is to incorporate it to activate and requalify the Praça da Bica, present in a
peripheral neighborhood, populated and characterized by social problems, the Noêmia. The methodology, besides conceptual and documental analyses, involves the diagnosis of the study area and its surroundings through mapping, field visits and exploratory interviews to establish the deficiencies and potentialities of the area. As a result,
the intervention proposal is presented with the definition of guidelines and projectual
intentions that aim to promote social inclusion, increase the quality of life
