In the city of São Paulo, since 2010, we have had a gradual increase in the number of young people and adults with disabilities who were institutionalized accessing the different school spaces in Youth and Adult Education. Their trajectories reveal experiences marked by the violation of their Human Rights and the denial of the possibility of coexistence and full participation in a life in society. This research aims to recover the trajectory of late schooling of people with institutionalized disabilities, who are people from residential institutions. With this, we want to elucidate the presence and impact of the institutionalization experience in the educational trajectories of young people and adults with disabilities enrolled in the Integrated Center for Youth and Adult Education (CIEJA) Itaquera, an educational unit located in the City of São Paulo - Brazil . To carry out it, EJA students who live in institutions and who are currently studying at CIEJA Itaquera were identified. In this context, we chose to know the different spaces, dialogue with the professionals in charge of these places (institutions and school unit) and, above all, listen to the characters of these trajectories in order to bring out the narratives of these people with disabilities and learn about the path that allowed these subjects to access Education. The locations were known in person in June/2019 and the interviews took place virtually due to the context of the pandemic between the months of December/2020 to April/2021. The characters' relationship with institutions is analyzed based on the perspective of Erving Goffman (2019) who describes the personal experience in total institutions and considers that in these spaces, individuals are separated from society, leading a closed and formally managed life. The knowledge of the uniqueness and identity of the adult audience that has access to the EJA policies of the Municipal Education Department of São Paulo was addressed in this study. We were able to analyze the history of the institutions and raise the impact of this trajectory on the lives of people with disabilities who were unaware of the educational context. The representatives of the institutions of residence and the participating educators reported the perspective they have regarding the stigmas of these institutionalized people, sharing their expectations of an Inclusive Education. The people with disabilities interviewed also narrated their trajectories sharing their institutional and school experiences. We concluded the research by ratifying the contributions of a society that defends the right of everyone to be together and that confront segregationist and discriminatory practices, demanding social changes, above all, living concrete experiences of coexistence.
