Além e aquém de Sergipe do Conde e de Tatuapara : os topônimos no Livro Velho do Tombo

Abstract

Esta dissertação objetiva oferecer um estudo toponímico baseada na edição semidiplomática do Livro Velho do Tombo do Mosteiro de São Bento da Bahia que reafirme seu valor arquivístico e contribua para continuidade dos estudos filológicos e de outras áreas do saber. Objetiva, ainda, assinalar quais os fatores naturais, sociais e culturais refletidos e, talvez, preservados nos nomes de acidentes físicos e humanos registrados nos referidos documentos. É apresentada em um volume e é constituída de 7 seções. Inicia-se apresentando os pontos que serão abordados ao longo do texto, os objetivos e a justificativa da dissertação. Na segunda seção, é feita uma apresentação do Livro Velho do Tombo com comentários sobre os percalços do processo da primeira edição desse livro feita pelos monges beneditinos, seguida de uma breve descrição extrínseca e intrínseca dos primeiros documentos trasladados, dando-se ênfase aos aspectos paleográficos e diplomáticos. Na terceira seção, apresentam-se as etapas do processo de edição, a descrição dos critérios adotados e a edição semidiplomática dos 21 documentos editados. Na seção subsequente, faz-se uma breve reflexão sobre o papel desempenhado pela Filologia e pela Toponímia, das suas relações com os estudos toponímicos, e desses com os estudos filológicos. Na quinta seção, aborda-se a Toponímia em suas nuances teóricas, como a relação toponímia e ambiente, signo linguístico e signo toponímico, estudo da motivação toponímica, estrutura do topônimo e classificação taxionômica. A sexta seção oferece a metodologia da pesquisa e os resultados do estudo dos 107 topônimos analisados em fichas lexicográficas toponímicas. E por fim, a sétima seção, correspondente às considerações finais, possui o intuito de reforçar a importância do presente estudo e promulgar sua possível continuidade pois, se tratando de léxico toponímico, o eixo das permanências e sucessões precisa estar girando em consonância com as descobertas linguísticas, históricas e culturais. O anexo em CD contém os facsímiles dos fólios referentes à edição apresentada, a edição semidiplomática e as fichas toponímicas.

This dissertation aims to provide a toponymic study based on the semidiplomatic edition of the Livro Velho do Tombo of the Benedictine Monastery of Bahia which reaffirme its archival value and contribute to continuity of philological studies and other knowledge areas. Objective also noted which natural factors, social and cultural are reflected and perhaps preserved in the names of physical and human accidents registered in those documents. It is presented in one volume and consists of 7 sections. It begins presenting the points that will be covered throughout the text, the objectives and justificative of the dissertation. At the second section it is done a presentation of the of the Livro Velho do Tombo with comments about the mishaps of the process of the first edition of this book made by Benedictine monks, followed by a brief extrinsic and intrinsic description of the first first transcribed documents, giving emphasis on the paleographic and diplomatic aspects. In the third section, presents the editing process steps, the description of the criteria used and the semidiplomatic edition of the 21 folios edited. In the subsequent section, there is a brief reflection about the role of Plhilology and Toponimy, and its relations with the Toponymic studies and these with the philological studies. The fifth section approuchs the Toponymy in its theoretical nuances, as the relationship between the toponymy and environment, linguistic sign and toponymic sign, study of toponymic motivation, toponymic structure and taxonomic classification. The sixth section provides the methodology research and the results of the 107 analized toponyms in lexicographical toponimic cards. Finally, the seventh section, corresponding to the final considerations, has the purpose of reinforcing this study importance and promulgate its possible continuity, because, in toponymic lexicon case, the axis of permanencies and successions must be spinning around in line with the linguistics, historicals and culturals findings. The attached CD contains facsimiles of the folios belonging to the edition, the semidiplomatic edition and the lexicographical toponimic cards.
