Resumen
"Memories of Political Prisoners during the Military Dictatorship: A Study Based on 'The Endless Body' by Claudia Lage" can be defined as a study on the reports and memories of political prisoners contained within the narrative. From this perspective, the discussion holds extreme social relevance as it reveals the erasure of the individual in the context of dictatorial repression through the form and content of the work. With that said, the discussion addresses issues related to collective and underground memories, as the recollections, confessions, and testimonies - in the context of a military regime - tend to highlight the suppression of the individual, their silencing, as their stories were interrupted, their bodies abducted and mutilated. In turn, the memory reclaims a wounded truth and preserves the testimony of lives interrupted by the orchestrated tyranny of the period. In this way, it becomes evident that the central question guiding the analysis is: how do the gaps experienced in history manifest in the present day? More specifically, is it possible to infer whether the reports reveal the emergence of the individual in a context of repression? In this context, the research takes a qualitative research approach, a bibliographic procedure, a theoretical type, a descriptive objective, a simple nature, and an inductive method. Therefore, the objective is to survey the chapters and/or passages of the book where the prisoners assume the narrative voice through streams of thought, digressions, and discursive excerpts, using literary analysis. From this bias, Candido (2000), Bosi (2003), Halbwachs (2013), Pollack (1989), Napolitano (2014), Reis Filho (2014), Friedman (2002), and Ginzburg (2008) are drawn upon in this research, establishing a dialogical panorama between literature and society, cultural identity, and above all, collective and underground memories. Therefore, it is considered, that the study enables the understanding that official history is full of gaps as it sidelines memories and reports deemed individual in the face of endless bodies. Such gaps in information perpetuate the lack of knowledge and understanding about the past, stopping the construction of a cohesive and comprehensive narrative.
