The present study seeks to understand, in a theoretical-practical perspective of geographic science, the socio-spatial implications of the construction of the Oiticica dam, in particular for the Barra de Santana community, in the municipality of Jucurutu/RN, located in the Potiguar Seridó Region, currently known as Intermediate and Immediate Region of Caicó (IBGE, 2017). Thus, in order to achieve the defined objectives, bibliographic research was carried out on the highlighted theme, seeking to better understand the aforementioned problem and the socio-spatial dynamics of the community in question. Then, field research was carried out, with relevant dialogues with some residents and former residents of the Barra de Santana community. As the work was carried out, community involvement in discussions about the construction and other interventions in the area was observed, based on a rational and affective understanding in the community regarding the environmental aspects related to the construction of the dam and the impacts of said construction. in the organization and spatial production of the Jucurutu community. With this, from a geographic bias, we sought to present a contribution to the understanding of the dynamics existing in this territory of the semi-arid region of Rio Grande do Norte.O presente estudo busca compreender, numa perspectiva teórico-prática da ciência geográfica, as implicações socioespaciais da construção da barragem de Oiticica, em especial à comunidade Barra de Santana, no município de Jucurutu/RN, situado na Região do Seridó potiguar, atualmente conhecida como Região Intermediária e Imediata de Caicó (IBGE, 2017). Desta forma, afim de alcançar os objetivos delimitados, foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas acerca da temática destacada, buscando compreender melhor a referida problemática e à dinâmica socioespacial da comunidade em questão. Em seguida, foram realizadas pesquisas de campo, com pertinentes diálogos com alguns moradores e ex-moradores da comunidade da Barra de Santana. Com a realização do trabalho, observou-se o envolvimento da comunidade nas discussões acerca da construção e das outras intervenções na área, a partir de um entendimento racional e afetivo na comunidade quanto aos aspectos ambientais relativos à construção da barragem e os impactos da referida construção na organização e produção espacial da comunidade jucurutuense. Com isso, a partir de um viés geográfico, se buscou apresentar uma contribuição para o entendimento da dinâmica existente neste território do semiárido do Rio Grande do Norte.
