Abstract: This research is characterized as a study focused on the phonological parameters that compose the signs (handshape, location, orientation, movement, plam orientation and non-manual expression) and the neutral space (the place in front of the person that is signing) (BARBERA´, 2012). The productions in Sign Language of two different groups of Deaf people were analyzed: the first group had four young Deaf people (age range from twenty to thirty years old); and the second group with elderly Deaf people (age range from fifty to sixty years old). All the participants lived in the city of Floriano´polis, in the state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. The corpus is composed by videos with the participants narrating a cartoon episode (Tom and Jerry cartoon), that were selected from the Project \"Libras Corpus\", in order to describe how does Deaf people use the neutral signing space (QUADROS; KARNOPP, 2004) and investigate how did Deaf people use three articulations of the arms (shoulder, elbow and wrist). We have chose to examine the recordings from the camera positioned in the celling of the studio, that captures an angle above of the participants. For data transcription and annotation we have used the software ELAN, in which we have also made the phonological description to compare these information between the age groups. The results have showed information about how the participants used the neutral signing space, and informations about the proximity with the body of the person that is signing (close, medium or far). We have noted that each Deaf person has their own characteristics to perform narratives, using the shoulder, elbow and wrist, and, in general, they use the signing space near the body while performing a narrative. The main results show that it is possible to establish a relationship between the signing of Deaf people from both groups analyzed here due to the grammaticalization and level of education.
