Spain and Rio de la Plata, this article intends to find the distinctive
characteristics of the Rio de la Plata, in order to answer three capital questions:
What was the viceroyalty significance as territorial concentration; Which
were the “Intendentes” (governor’s) new powers, given by the “Real Ordenanza de Intendente’s”; and which was the relationship between them and
