Abstract: the newspapers published in Buenos Aires for the collectivities of
immigrants arrived to Argentina at the XIX century, have had an active
influence on the migratory groups mentalities. The study of Le Courrier de
la Plata is intimately related with the French migration. As the demographer
Hernán Otero118 mentions in his works dedicated to French immigration, France occupied the first place as cultural and intellectual model for the
River Plate leader classes during that period; the second after Great Britain
for capital investments; and the third in population terms after Italian and
Spanish immigrants. The study contemplates the following aspects: the context
in which this newspaper developed, who directed it and worked in it, the
circulation and diffusion of the Courrier, as well as the principal subjects
treated on it.
