Abstract: Latin America and the Caribbean face an international order marked by competition between great powers and the impact of the war in Ukraine, while the region is still trying to recover from the pandemic crisis and shows high levels of internal fragmentation. In the face of the Ukrainian conflict, Latin America has had mixed reactions, but has not supported Western sanctions against Russia nor has it supported Western initiatives to isolate Russia from multilateral fora. On the other hand, the region has generally condemned the invasion in various multilateral bodies from the Organization of American States to the United Nations General Assembly. Facing Russian assertiveness and a global crisis stemming from the Ukrainian conflict, the article explores the various Latin American and Caribbean regional responses to the Russo-Ukrainian war.
