ABSTRACT: This degree project, was framed in the possibility of fostering spaces where children will be related to Natural Sciences from their daily lives through the resolution of problem
situations, which gave openness to the possibility of social transformation; this was carried out with a population sample of 62 boys and girls in grades 2 and 3 of the Republic of Costa
Rica school belonging to the José Acevedo y Gómez Educational Institution, in the municipality of Medellín. This process of inquiry was part of the qualitative research
paradigm, with an approach from Action Research, which sought to give active participation to students not limited to the classroom but by expanding to other social spaces such as the
possibility of recreating their daily life from the implementation of actions in favor of the community to which they belong.
For this, the Didactic Unit called “microorganisms from sensitive experiences” was developed from which the resolution of problem situations based on the four types of existing
microorganisms was addressed, directly relating them to social aspects, mainstreamed by narrative experiences created by the own participants from the sensations provoked. All of
the above, through different tools such as participant observation, field diaries, videos, photos, Likert scale questionnaire (pre and post). According to the data obtained there, it was
found that the notions that boys and girls have built on microorganisms are related to the concept of cell since, they mentioned small parts of the body, definitions that were
transformed as activities went by. In addition, the importance of problem situations in the development of scientific thinking as a binding axis of student decisions for changes in habits
was highlighted. On the other hand, it is worth highlighting the relevance of teaching in complex ages subjects of complex natural sciences such as microorganisms through the
didactic transposition to generate in the children different questions to take them to the investigation of themes that intervene in their daily lives.
