ABSTRACT: This research Project aimed to analyze if there is a relationship between the consumption
of psychoactive substances and the type of parental bonding perceived by scholar adolescents
between ages of 14 and 17 years old, in the municipality of La Ceja Del Tambo. For this reason
Alcohol Use Disorders Identifications Test (AUDIT 2001) were applied in order to identify the
alcohol consumption, and the Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST-20) with the purpose of
characterizing the psychoactive substances different to alcohol and tobacco and the Parental
Bonding Instrument PBI, with the aim of measuring the type of bonding with the ones who
accomplish the maternal and paternal function. In total, 380 students participated, which were
divided equally into three public Educational Institutions from this municipality. The results
showed that the 37, 4 % of the involved population stated to have consumed alcohol during their
lives, where the 23, 4 % out of these ones present a dangerous consumption. Likewise the 67, 4
% of the interviewed adolescents stated to have consumed any kind of Psychoactive substance
during their lives, distributing this percentage in different types of consumption which start in a
low level of consumption until a high level of consumption. Furthermore, it was possible to
identify that the major type of perceived bonding for the involved population is the control with
no affection in both functions maternal and paternal, and in these cases the type of bonding with
less representation, is the weak bonding. Also, an interrelationship statistically meaningful and
negative between the consumption of the psychoactive substances different to alcohol and
tobacco with the total of the affection scale as paternal (p=0,003) as maternal (p=0,017) was
obtained. A similar situation was presented referring to alcohol consumption and the scale of
maternal affection which showed a negative interrelationship (p=0,011). The paternal and
maternal control scale was not associated meaningfully with the total of consumption reported by
the adolescents involved in the DAST and AUDIT.
