This paper describes the case of an 11-year-old male Shih Tzu dog, who was admitted to the U.D.C.A. Veterinary Clinic. Anamnesis: it is reported that the patient was fine, but shortly after returning home after a walk, he was found unconscious, and was taken urgently to a veterinary clinic where they found mydriasis, muscle tremors, ataxia of the hind limbs, rotational movements when trying to incorporate, opisthotonus position and absent pupillary reflex. Clinical and Laboratory Findings: At the clinical examination it was found weak and lethargic, with opisthotonus, stiffness at the level of cervical muscles, hyperextension and left lateralization of the neck, weakness in hind limbs, leukocytosis by neutrophilia, lymphopenia, presence of bands and increase in ALT and FAS. Therapeutic Approach: Neuroprotection, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, diuretics and antibiotics were administered. Conclusions: According to the findings, an ischemic stroke was proposed as a presumptive diagnosis and confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance
