Resumen
Education in Latin America, like in Colombia, has shown an unequal trend. Authors such as Fuentes Vásquez (2019), Fuentes Vázquez (2021), Ramírez and Salazar (2007) and Ramírez and Téllez (2006), Faguet and Sánchez (2014), Frankeman (2009), Engerman and Sokoloff (2002), and Lindert (2010) associate the failures of education with multiple causes. However, this document suggests that educational centralization had positive effects on mass education. To test this hypothesis, a descriptive analysis and a fixed effects panel regression are used. The results show that during periods of educational centralization, there were improvements in mass educational coverage.
