Recurso Electr?nicoEsta investigaci?n pretende analizar las caracter?sticas del conocimiento cient?fico producido en la Universidad del Tolima en el ?rea de las Ciencias Sociales desde 1995 hasta 2017. Se considera de car?cter exploratorio, este ser? con enfoque cuantitativo, pero recoge elementos cualitativos. Sin embargo, su prop?sito no es en ning?n momento describir una historia de la producci?n cient?fica. M?s bien, de lo que se trata es de aportar en la discusi?n del papel y la finalidad ?social- de la producci?n cient?fica, de su devenir, presente y futuro. Esto nos permiti? rastrear que dicha producci?n de conocimiento se caracteriza por desconocer la producci?n local, que a su vez se refleja en un conocimiento limitado y excluyente solo para su disciplina productora. En ese sentido, conlleva una inexistente comunicaci?n entre disciplinas entorno a la generaci?n y producci?n de conocimiento en cooperaci?n, permitiendo analizar la investigaci?n social que tenemos y la que nos exige el siglo XXI. Palabras Clave: conocimiento cient?fico, investigaci?n social.This research aims to analyze the characteristics of the scientific knowledge produced in the University of Tolima in the area of social sciences since 1995 to 2017. It is considered exploratory character, this will with a quantitative focus, but collects qualitative elements. Nevertheless, its purpose is not at any moment to describe a history of the scientific production. Rather, what is involved is to contribute in the discussion of the role and social purpose of scientific production, its present and its future. This allowed us to trace that this production of knowledge is characterized by unknown of the local production that at the same time reflect a limited knowledge and exclusive only for its producing discipline, around generation and production of knowledge in cooperation, allowing analyze the social research that we have at the moment and that demand us the 21st century.
