| dc.description | La din?mica de las poblaciones depende principalmente del ?xito de las estrategias
reproductivas de cada especie. El objetivo del estudio fue describir los principales
aspectos reproductivos de una especie de rana venenosa de g?nero Andinobates, del
municipio de Riosucio, Choc?. Para esto, el canto de los machos fue grabado y se
registr? el n?mero de renacuajos que fueron cargados por los adultos. Adicionalmente,
se realiz? la b?squeda de renacuajos en dos especies de bromelias a cuatro alturas
diferentes (A: nivel del suelo; B: 20 cm - 1 m; C: 1 - 2 m; y D: 2 - 3 m). El canto de la
especie es de tipo ?buzz call? con caracter?sticas ac?sticas ?nicas dentro del g?nero. Las
caracter?sticas morfol?gicas de los renacuajos corresponden a las descritas para el
g?nero y fueron transportados solamente por machos, lo que indica que el cuidado
parental es llevado a cabo por este sexo. Adem?s, no se encontraron diferencias
significativas en el n?mero de renacuajos encontrados en cada estrato. Adicionalmente,
se observ? una preferencia por la especie de bromelia Guzmania musaica, relacionada
con la alta capacidad de almacenamiento de agua, para el desarrollo de los renacuajos.
En general, el conocimiento del comportamiento reproductivo de esta especie es una
herramienta clave para la identificaci?n de los requerimientos de su h?bitat, que son la
base para establecer los planes para su conservaci?n.

| dc.description | Population dynamics mainly depends on the success of the reproductive strategies of
each species. The goal of this study was to describe the main reproductive characteristics
of a poison frog from the genus Andinobates from Riosucio, Choc?, Colombia. To this
matter, the call of males was recorded, and the tadpoles carried out by adults was
registered. Additionally, tadpoles were sampled in two species of bromeliads to four
different heights (A: ground level; B: 20 cm - 1 m; C: 1 - 2 m; and D: 2 - 3 m). The species
calling is a "buzz call" with unique acoustic features within the genus. The morphological
traits of tadpoles correspond to those described for the genus and were transported only
by the males, indicating that the parental care is carried out just by this sex. Furthermore,
no significant differences were found in the number of tadpoles laying in each stratum.
Additionally, a preference by the Guzmania musaica bromeliad was observed, related to
the high water storage capacity for the development of tadpoles. In general, the
knowledge of reproductive behavior of this species is a key tool for identifying its habitat
requirements, which are the basis for conservation plans.
