ABSTRACT. This document is an essencial part of a teacher?s job for the sake of the trigonometry teaching and learning process improvement in tenth-grade students, by identifying and analizing the errors and challenges of the evaluation process. In order to get to understand the object of this research study, real information was carefully collected by different tools that allowed us to identify and describe the difficulties students face in their learning reality and mathematics strengthening, from a trigonometry perspective.
The evaluation is focused on the competency framework. However, the purpose of evaluation is related to a numerical score that determines if the student actually learned. From another perspective, the learning process is an educational process where the Teacher supports the student for him to get prepared to have the best learning process. Results demonstrate the feasibility of analyzing the error and considering it as a tool for the learning process improvement, and also to solve the difficulties students have when they prove what they have learned. However, the fact of understanding the mistakes and difficulties shown during the mathematics evaluation process helped this research have a clear focus on what was established by Kilpatrick (1998), in the error classification. Furthermore, this experience supported a critical reflection: ?errors are the best tools in order to understand difficulties and get to build a significant learning process for the students.
