Resumen
The image shows the average satellite sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly for the entire month of June. The anomaly is calculated by averaging the June SST's from 1971-2000, and comparing that average to the observed temperatures in 2010. Red areas are positive anomalies (warmer than average); blue areas are negative anomalies (cooler than average). There is a high positive anomaly for the Atlantic Basin and Gulf of Mexico. These warm waters have the potential to fuel the intensification of storms into hurricanes. The Eastern Pacific was less warm, though still above average, as the El Niño transitions into La Niña Ensino Médio::Geografia Educação Superior::Ciências Exatas e da Terra::Oceanografia
