This paper aims to delineate the current trends of work in the context of productive flexibility background. For that purpose, it is assumed that the work is the key element for the human socialization process and it should be comprehended in its historical specifity, and it has to be correlated to the social totality in wich it operates. Para tanto, assume o pressuposto de que o trabalho constitui um elemento fundamental do processo de socialização humana e que deve ser compreendido em sua especificidade histórica, tendo como referência a totalidade social em que se insere. Nesse sentido, procura demonstrar, através da referência a estudos teóricos sobre as transformações na organização do trabalho, as consequências do atual processo de flexibilização da produção sobre o trabalho, tanto do ponto de vista objetivo, demonstrando os impactos da flexibilização sobre as condições materiais de trabalho, quanto sobre a constituição subjetiva do trabalhador, demonstrando seus impactos sobre a organização política, seu processo formativo e a constituição de sua identidade laboral.
