Several procedures have been proposed as suitable ttechnologies for arsenic (As) removal in developing conuntries based on simple procedures ranging from conventional technologies (redox precipitation, coagulation, membrane, among others), emerging technologies (zero-valent iron and biological methods) and photochemical technologies. The latter include those activated by visible or solar light such as solar removal of As procedure (SORAS), photo-Fenton reaction and TIO2 photocatalysis. This chapter summaries protochemical methods for oxidation of As (III) and removal of As(V) in aqueous solutions driven by visible or solar light.
