This doctoral thesis approaches the production of the bipolar disorder in Chile. With the entrance of this disorder in the Explicit Garantees in Health, the bipolar disease began to experiment a serie of transformation thanks to the state action, leading the attention of the diagnosticated population with this disease. The process of incorporation of the bipolar disorder to the Explicit Garantees, unlike a difference of the panorama of the international psychiatry, was not controverted. The process of entrance was indifferent to the international questionings on the increasing of certain psychiatric diagnostics, like the bipolar disorder. The lack of discussions around this disease contrasted with the interest shown by the state and the entrance of this bipolar disorder to the Explicit Garantees in Health. The investigations on these disagreements were the point of starting this investigation. To analize the bipolar disorder were used analytical and methodological tools explained by the Actor-Network Theory. The ontological position over the reality construction developed by this theory, its interest to study the emergency of new actors and their position over the performativiyy of science, allowed to study the bipolar disorder using new concepts and ways to understand the phenomenons of the complex and globalized world, changings, interpreting and giving a way to new realities. From the Actor-Network Theory, the actors and heterogenous associations that produced the local bipolar disorder were hidden by the black box of bipolar disease and the entrance of this disease to the Explicit Garantees in Health. This investigation opened the black box of the bipolar disorder showing the different actors and hetereogenous associations that have produced this disorder, through a serie of processes as translations, alliances, enrollings, negotiations and alignments that, how this investigation showed, were amplifying the production of the bipolar disorder in Chile.Esta tesis doctoral aborda la producción del trastorno bipolar en Chile. Con la entrada de este trastorno a las Garantías Explícitas en Salud, la enfermedad bipolar comenzó a experimentar una serie de transformaciones gracias a la acción estatal, conduciendo la atención de la población diagnosticada con esta enfermedad. El proceso de incorporación del trastorno bipolar a las Garantías Explícitas, a diferencia del panorama de la psiquiatría internacional, no fue controvertido. El proceso de entrada fue indiferente a los cuestionamientos internacionales sobre el aumento de ciertos diagnósticos psiquiátricos, como el trastorno bipolar. La falta de discusión en torno a esta enfermedad contrastaba con el interés mostrado por el Estado y el ingreso de este trastorno a las Garantías Explícitas en Salud. Las indagaciones sobre estas discrepancias fueron el punto de partida de esta investigación. Para analizar el trastorno bipolar se utilizaron las herramientas analíticas y metodológicas desplegadas por la Teoría del Actor-Red. La posición ontológica sobre la construcción de realidad desarrollada por esta teoría, su interés por estudiar la emergencia de nuevos actores y su posición sobre la performatividad de la ciencia, permitieron estudiar al trastorno bipolar utilizando nuevos conceptos y formas de entender los fenómenos del mundo complejo y globalizado, transformando, interpretando y dando forma a nuevas realidades. Desde la Teoría del Actor-Red, los actores y asociaciones heterogéneas que produjeron el trastorno bipolar local quedaron ocultos por la cajanegrización de la enfermedad bipolar y el ingreso de ésta a las Garantías Explícitas en Salud. Esta investigación abrió la caja negra del trastorno bipolar mostrando los diversos actores y asociaciones heterogéneas que han producido este trastorno, a través de una serie de procesos como traducciones, alianzas, enrolamientos, negociaciones y alineamientos que, como mostró esta investigación, fueron ampliando la producción del trastorno bipolar en Chile.
