| dc.description | El tamaño de puesta en aves se encuentra determinado por la cantidad y variabilidad de los recursos y de las condiciones ambientales como el clima y la presión de depredación. Sin embargo, se desconoce si es que algunos rasgos de historia de vida influyen en que el tamaño de puesta varíe diferencialmente entre especies. En esta tesis, se pone a prueba si el tipo de nido, el grado de especialización en la dieta y el grado de sociabilidad influyen sobre la variación que presentan las especies en el tamaño de puesta. Para dicho análisis, se realizó un análisis de PGLS, en donde se incluye la filogenia de las especies involucradas y el tamaño de la especie como variable correctora. También se evaluó cuánto influye la filogenia sobre la variabilidad del tamaño de puesta mediante el coeficiente de Pagel. Ninguno de los modelos que utilizan las variables propuestas se asoció significativamente a la variabilidad del tamaño de puesta. Sin embargo, la variabilidad del tamaño de puesta no se asoció sólo a las relaciones filogenéticas, por lo que es necesario explorar qué otras variables podrían afectar la variabilidad inter-específica en el tamaño de puesta. | |
| dc.description | Clutch size in birds depends on the variation of resources and the environmental conditions as climate and predation pressure. However, the factors influencing on the differences of this variation among species are not clear. In this thesis, I assess if the kind of nest, diet specialization and sociability influence on the clutch size variation among species. With this purpose, a PGLS analysis was done, where I used the phylogeny tree and the body size as covariables. Also, I assess the influence of phylogeny using the Pagel coefficient. None of the models using the proposed variables influence on the clutch size variation between species. However, this is not due to the phylogeny, so it is necessary to explore new variables that could be influencing on the differences on the variation of clutch size. | |
