This thesis presents a research proposal in the field of the study of academic genres of academic training in Spanish. This research is situated in the field of situated genre analysis. Specifically, it focuses on the relationship between gender, curriculum and discipline. The theoretical-methodological platform of this proposal is based on genre analysis (Swales, 1990, 2004), the Valparaiso school of linguistics, contrastive rhetoric (Connor & Moreno, 2005) and English for specific purposes (Bathia, 1993). The study seeks to characterize the genres produced by university students, to represent their intergeneric relations and to understand their formative role from a mixed methodological design that combines exhaustive discursive rhetorical analysis with some ethnographic tools in order to configure a map of genres in Computer Engineering. This work of empirical nature, pure purpose and applied implications combines different types of analytical instruments and is intended to become a contribution to the characterization of genres and their modes of classification, to the description of academic Spanish and to the didactics of writing at the higher level.
