Resumen
In the Wood Traceability Laboratory in Forestry Engineering career at ESPOCH, students and teachers are constantly exposure to different risk factors, due to in the laboratory there is no adequate personal protective equipment for the work developed in different areas, risk management is nonexistent and the workspace lacks signage. The objective of this research was to design a safety manual to minimize risks, incidents and accidents in the laboratory, in order to ensure Occupational Safety, Hygiene and Health at work. The methodologies applied to establish the risks in the laboratory have an analytical, deductive and quantitative approach; these allow the needed information for the design of the safety manual, such as: the vulnerability of the building that is evaluated by means of the FEMA 154 matrix, the fire risk of the facility that is obtained with the MESERI method, the risks in each work position that are analyzed with the INSHT matrix to be later evaluated with the NTP 330. These techniques showed a serious fire risk with an index of 3.99 and a high vulnerability in the building with a value of 1.9; of the risk factors evaluated in each workstation, a total of 68 risks were determined, of which 52% are level III, 38% are level II, 5% are level I and the other 5% are level IV. These results confirmed the need for a safety manual with safe work procedures and emergency plans, safety signage and an evacuation map.
