Resumen
The objective of this technical work was to repower the water heating system of the indoor pool
of the Los Elenes Tourist Complex in the Guano canton, so that it presents better efficiency. The
technical work was divided into three axes of intervention: system maintenance, energy
evaluation and automation of the ignition system. Within the maintenance, as an initial point was
to verify the state of the equipment present in the heating system which are: fire tube cauldron,
burner and electrical system, once the elements were identified, the classification was carried out
according to their risk priority number (NPR) to determine existing and potential failures, in
addition to establishing a high, low, and medium priority level, to then proceed with preventive
and corrective maintenance work. The second axis referring to energy evaluation began with a
non-invasive analysis of the boiler by measuring temperatures and gas concentration using a
thermographic camera, a digital pyrometer and a flue gas analyzer, which can obtain data without
stopping the process. of heating, obtaining real data that served to determine the energy losses
that the boiler presents and solving them by isolating the critical points of loss of calorific power.
Finally, the third axis in which the automation of the ignition system was carried out, since the
ignition of the burner was done manually, hindering the heating processes and reducing the
efficiency of the system, through the implementation of a timer schedules were established. proper
ignition and shutdown of the burner thus improving the productivity of the process. It is concluded
that the work carried out in the three axes of intervention improved the efficiency of the heating
system in production and in effectiveness, since fuel savings were also recorded.
