Resumen
This work aimed to repower the throttling calorimeter of the Thermodynamics Laboratory, design a maintenance plan, and also find the quality of the steam generated in the boiler. A study of the initial situation was carried out in the steam generator and in the calorimeter. It started with the cauldron since it had some deficiencies, and for this reason, it was repowered. Once the cauldron had been rehabilitated, thermographic tests of the throttling calorimeter were carried out, and it was verified that the glass wool that served as thermal insulation presented heat leaks. The thermocouple and the pressure gauge were faulty, and they were replaced with new ones. For the temperature reading, a PT100 was chosen instead of the thermocouple. The thermal insulation was removed, and a hydrostatic test was carried out in the expansion chamber to verify its condition. A new glass wool was then added. An LCD screen reader was also added in real time of the temperature obtained from the PT100 in the expansion chamber at the same time that this information is transferred to an interface in Labview. An analysis of failure modes and effects on the elements of the calorimeter was made. As a result of this, the annual maintenance master plan was obtained. A new thermographic test was carried out to check the operation of the new thermal insulator and the other components. The calculation of the steam quality was carried out, which resulted in an average rate of 99.73%. It is concluded that the steam generator and the calorimeter could be successfully repowered. In addition, it was determined that the steam produced by the boiler is wet steam. It is recommended that if a new element is implemented, the same methodology is followed for the maintenance plan.
