relacionan. The objective of this study was to relate the anthropometric parameters with
the level of knowledge that patients have about nutrition in people from 18 to
65 years of age who attend the outpatient area of the Jipijapa IESS Day
Hospital of the Jipijapa canton in the period November - December of 2022.

cross-sectional approach, the questionnaire of general knowledge of food and
nutrition and anthropometric parameters such as BMI, weight and height were
used.
The study sample consisted of 119 people who met the inclusion and exclusion
criteria. As a result, it is shown that 23.53% of the subjects surveyed have
average knowledge about nutrition and are in the normal range of BMI.
Regarding patients with low knowledge on the subject, we see that 15.13% are
overweight and 4.20% mildly obese.
When analyzing the number of people surveyed, it was evident that the
majority of people with medium and high knowledge have a body mass index
between 18.5 and 30, that is, there is not enough evidence to demonstrate that
the BMI category and the level of knowledge are related.
