The main objective of this paper is to analyze the factors that affect the
competitiveness of Ecuadorian shrimp exports in the period 2015-2022. The
theoretical framework includes the theories of trade, mercantilism, absolute
advantage, comparative advantage, competitive advantage, and the Hecker-Ohlin
model. The research method used is quantitative, hypothetical, speculative and
historical. The type of research is longitudinal descriptive and correlational. The
methodology is a regression model to find out the factors that affect the
competitiveness of shrimp from Ecuador in the international market. China is
currently the most important market for the export of shrimp, and which has a high
power over the exports of this crustacean from Ecuador. As a conclusion, it was
obtained that the level of production, the weighted real exchange rate (according to
the econometric model), quality, the type of production and the volume (point of
view of the interviewees) are factors that determine the competitiveness of
Ecuadorian shrimp.
