This research work analyzes the proliferation of clandestine rehabilitation clinics that
exist in the city of Guayaquil through bibliographic compilation, news archives and personal
testimonies to understand the impact that this problem is having on society and how the
Ecuadorian state is incorrectly catering to this cluster of young people and adults who have
become more vulnerable over the years. After examining the particularities of critical drug
use in Guayaquil and determining the importance of the creation of rehabilitation clinics in
the city, "Don't Leave Me Forgotten" was born, a documentary with an author's perspective
that elaborates on each of the aspects that encompass this situation, not only substantiated
by journalistic extracts, but also by the story of Jacqueline Sánchez, a woman whose son died
in a clandestine center. The previous aspects, in combination with audiovisual resources,
resulted on an aesthetic and emotional product.
