no experimental y transversal.
Colorectal transit restoration surgery is a procedure after the resection of a part of
the intestine and the consequent end colostomy, which is as likely to cause
complications as the colostomy. Research on the morbidity of patients with
colostomies is scarce at the national and international level, especially in relation
to the closure of the colostomy and the restoration of intestinal transit. The objective
is to characterize the perioperative management of patients undergoing colorectal
transit restitution surgery at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital, period 2016-
2021. The methodology is retrospective, descriptive, with a non-experimental and
cross-sectional design. The results showed in 122 patients a mean age of 57.16
years, with a minimum of 22 years and a maximum of 85 years; the most frequent
ostomy criterion was colon cancer with 47.54%, without comorbidities in 58.20%.
17.2% of the patients had to wait twelve months for the closure of the colostomy,
with 45.08% having undergone this procedure. It was defined that in the category
of immediate complications there were none in 50.82%, as well as late
complications in 78.69%. It is concluded that the relationship between
complications and the most frequent type of surgery does not have a statistically
significant association due to presenting a p value >0.05.
