Introduction: The dental organs weaken and lose their resistance when they are
intervened with any dental treatment, they are prone to fractures, especially when they
have extensive caries and are non-vital teeth. Authors mention that performing the
restoration with fiber-reinforced resin (EverX posterior and Ribbond), which are the most
common, can reinforce the dental structure and make the fractures repairable since they
are limited to being located above the cement-enamel junction. Objective: To analyze
the effectiveness of the use of fiber-reinforced composite as an alternative for dentin
restorations. Methodology: The selection of 125 scientific articles was carried out, of
which 30 articles were included for the final work. These articles were in the
English/Spanish language, they were in the 2005-2021 range and cuartile 1,2,3.
Results: The most used fibers are glass (posterior EverX) and polyethylene fibers
(Ribbond), they have flexural strength of 175.6 MPa higher than resins 143.3 MPa,
fracture strength of 2.4 MPa and makes fractures 75% repairable; they reduce the
tension developed in the tooth-restoration interface since they alter the elastic modulus
of the resin, reducing the rigidity.
