Introducción: Hay diversas patologías que se presentan en la cavidad oral, entre las que se encuentran las patologías linguales. La frecuencia, prevalencia y aumento de estas varía en diferentes partes del mundo. Objetivo: Determinar el número de patologías linguales diagnosticadas y registradas en la primera cita
odontológica comparando con la cita subsecuente. Analizar si hay alguna relación entre la patología lingual y sus antecedentes personales. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó una investigación de tipo descriptiva transversal, en un universo de 177 pacientes pediátricos que asistieron a la Clínica Odontológica de
la Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, de los cuales 122 fueron incluidos en el estudio. Se recabaron datos mediante encuestas, revisión y diagnostico subsecuente a todos los participantes. Resultados: Las patologías orales se observaron en mayor frecuencia en la tercera infancia (7–12 años) con
el 77,05%. Estas patologías tuvieron mayor predominancia en el sexo masculino con un 48,36%. De acuerdo con el diagnóstico levantado; la de mayor constancia fue la lengua saburral con un 43,44%. El diagnostico inicial comparándolo con el diagnostico subsecuente, coincidió en un 38,52%. Conclusión: La patología
lingual más frecuente en el paciente pediátrico fue la lengua saburral, siendo más prevalente en el sexo masculino; sin embargo, existe un déficit en el diagnóstico de las patologías. Introduction: There are several pathologies that occur in the oral cavity, One of them are lingual pathologies. The frequency, prevalence and increase of these pathologies are differents in each part of the world.
Objective: To determine the number of lingual pathologies diagnosed and recorded in the first dental appointment comparing with the subsequent appointment. To analyze if there is any relation between the lingual pathology and its personal antecedents. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional
study was carried out in a universe of 177 pediatric patients who attended the Dental Clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago of Guayaquil in the semester A-2017, of which 122 were included in the study . Data were collected through surveys, review and subsequent diagnosis to all participants. Results: Oral
pathologies were observed more frequently in third childhood (7-12 years) with 77.05%. These pathologies had greater predominance in the male gender with a 48.36%. According to the diagnosis raised; the most frequent was the saburral tongue with a 43,44%. The initial diagnosis, comparing it with the subsequent
diagnosis, coincided in 38.52%. Conclusion: The most frequent lingual pathology in the pediatric patient was the saburral tongue, being more prevalent in the male gender; however, there is a deficit in the diagnosis of these pathologies.
