Prevalencia de enfermedad periodontal en pacientes con apiñamiento dentario en la Clínica Odontológica de la UCSG.

Resumen
La piezas dentales apiñadas pueden afectar negativamente la condición periodontal, el apiñamiento provoca el acúmulo de placa bacteriana lo que nos puede derivar en posteriores problemas periodontales si no es
diagnosticado a tiempo. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la
prevalencia de la enfermedad periodontal en pacientes con apiñamiento dentario que fueron atendidos en la clínica odontológica de la Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil. Materiales y Métodos: La muestra del estudio consintió de 66 pacientes con apiñamiento dentario. Los cuales fueron
sondeados pero se tomo en cuenta principalmente la zona incisiva inferior para así obtener un diagnóstico periodontal. Para cada paciente se utilizó sondas
periodontales CP12 para evaluar la profundidad de sondaje, margen gingival,
Nivel de inserción clínica e índice gingival. Resultados: La generalidad de los
casos estudiados presentaron gingivitis asociada a palca, causada por el
acúmulo de placa bacteriana de las piezas apiñadas. Los resultados demostraron que el apiñamiento dentario es un factor agravante para la enfermedad periodontal por la tendencia al acúmulo de placa bacteriana, a su vez se reveló por medio de una encuesta, que el paciente no tiene buenos
hábitos de higiene lo que conlleva a agravar mas la situación. Con una buena
instrucción de higiene oral el paciente lograría tener salud periodontal.
