Resumen
El Estado Nutricional es un factor que influye en la aparición de patologías orales como caries dental, enfermedad periodontal, anomalías del desarrollo del esmalte y anomalías en la erupción dental. Objetivo: El objetico de este estudio fue determinar la relación entre el Estado Nutricional y la
presencia de patologías orales. Materiales y métodos: Se realizo un estudio de tipo descriptivo transversal en el cual 93 niños de entre 5 y 10 años estudiantes de la escuela de educación básica TNT. Ángel Duarte Guarnizo del cantón Samborondón fueron examinados clínicamente. Se lleno una historia clínica con datos personales del paciente y sus padres, antecedentes médicos y
hábitos alimenticios. Adicionalmente se llenó un odontograma, PSR y tomo la altura y peso del paciente. Resultados: El índice cariogénico más elevado tanto en dentición permanente como en temporal fue en el grupo de Desnutrición (7,83 y 7 respectivamente). El grupo con el estado periodontal más afectado fue el de Desnutrición al ser el único grupo en presentar más de un código 3 e
incluso un código 4. En cuanto a la Erupción dental, todos los pacientes con Sobrepeso presentaron erupción Prematura, mientras que los pacientes con Desnutrición fueron los que pres entaron el porcentaje más alto de erupción Tardía (25%). Por último, el porcentaje más alto de las Anomalías en el
desarrollo del Esmalte lo obtuvo nuevamente el grupo de Desnutrición con 83,3% de los casos encontrados.
