Efectividad de la antibióticoterapia preventiva en cirugía de terceros molares en el Hospital Policía Guayaquil, 2013.

Resumen
En el hospital de la Policía Guayaquil No2 en Guayaquil Ecuador se utiliza de manera sistemática la administración de antibióticos
para la profilaxis de infección postquirúrgica en el postoperatorio de cirugía del tercer molar. Esta práctica aún resulta controversial en el mundo ya que
algunos indican que no se debería utilizar y otros cuestionan la utilidad de ciertos medicamentos por lo que era necesario aclarar estas dudas. Metodología: Estudio de Caso-control en el que se incluyeron pacientes de
más de 15 años que fueron intervenidos con exodoncia quirúrgica del tercer molar en el hospital de la policía Guayas No2, distribuidos de la siguiente manera 122 pacientes que no presentaron infección postquirúrgica y 3 que sí. Para el análisis estadístico se emplearon la prueba exacta de Fisher y la prueba de chi2 considerándose significativos valores de P < 0.05.
Resultados: La prevalencia de infecciones postquirúrgicas fue del 2,4%. Existió una tendencia de mayor número de infecciones entre los pacientes a los que se les indicó una profilaxis antibiótico con otros sustancias diferentes a betalactámicos + IBL (66,7% vs 33,3%), diferencia que no fue
estadísticamente significativa (P > 0.05).
