Resumen
La globalización de las finanzas es un hecho indiscutible que ha exigido de un
esfuerzo normativo que se adaptara a esta nueva realidad. La elaboración de las
Normas Internacionales de Información Financiera es un paso adelante hacia la
normalización contable de las compañías a nivel internacional. En nuestro estudio hemos encontrado que, incluso entre empresas que comparten un mismo sector, si comparamos las diferencias entre el Normas Ecuatorianas de
Contabilidad y las NIIF, entre ellas puede haber hasta un 85% de diferencia en las
variaciones de algunas de sus valores patrimoniales . La transformación vertiginosa que han experimentado en muy pocos años,
prácticamente todos los ámbitos de la vida económica y financiera, reclamaban de
forma insistente una homogenización de las normativas contables, aun locales en
la mayoría de los casos. La implantación de las NIC, mas tarde rebautizadas como Normativas Internacionales de Información Financiera (NIIF) intenta dar respuesta a una
realidad que ya existe, realidad que reclama la comparación, la fiabilidad, la cantidad y la calidad de la información que se debe poner a disposición de terceras personas ajenas a las compañías y que es tan necesaria para una buena salud del sistema financiero internacional.
