Comportamiento de pilotes individuales bajo carga lateral : evaluación de caso real

Resumen
La ocurrencia de cargas laterales sobre las estructuras y en consecuencia sobre su cimentación, tiene una naturaleza muy diversa: presión de suelo sobre muros
de contención, cargas de viento sobre vallas publicitarias, cargas sísmicas en
edificios y puentes, cargas de impacto de embarcaciones sobre pilas de puentes y
muelles, cargas por oleaje en estructuras fuera de costa, cargas de tensión en
cables en torres de transmisión eléctricas, entre muchas otras. A pesar de su gran importancia, hasta el año 1950 el análisis del comportamiento de pilotes bajo carga lateral, se encontraba limitado a criterios empíricos y carecía de un firme sustento teórico. Es gracias a la instalación de cantidades significativas de plataformas para
extracción de petróleo en alta mar, que se hace posible la realización de pruebas a
escala real completamente instrumentadas y se empieza a correlacionar los parámetros geomecánicos de los suelos de cimentación con su comportamiento bajo carga lateral.
