Manga gástrica como procedimiento único en el tratamiento de obesidad severa

Resumen
La obesidad severa es uno de los problemas de salud más importantes a nivel mundial,
Definiendo como obesidad severa a pacientes con índice de masa corporal (IMC) > 35 con
comorbilidades asociadas o aquellos que tienen (IMC) de 40 independientemente de
comorbilidades. Siendo la obesidad severa uno de los problemas de salud pública mas graves y urgentes en sociedades occidentales por impacto que tiene sobre la economía humana
específicamente las complicaciones metabólicas y cardiovasculares, debido a las comorbilidades estrechamente relacionadas, tales como hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus tipo 2, resistencia
a la insulina, dislipidemia, enfermedad osteoarticular de rodillas, apnea del sueño, entre otras, las mismas que afectan de forma negativa la expectativa de vida y la calidad de vida. Según datos de la organización mundial de salud del 2011 en Ecuador hay un promedio de 55% de prevalencia de sobrepeso cuyo grupo más afecto es el de las mujeres (59,2) en comparación con el de hombres (50,8), y de prevalencia de obesidad un promedio de 21,4 % con (15,2) para hombres y (27,4) mujeres.
