This work is a study of whole body vibration as a result of exercises on vibration plates. Aims to asses the vibration levels that users of these plates are submitted and for such were made measurements on three different vibration plates with two individuals of different masses in order to verify how occurs the variation of acceleration with the frequency of operation and if differing levels of acceleration to users with different masses exposed to the same regime of operation. Each plate was evaluated according to their usual regimes and the acceleration obtained in each operating regime was then compiled for the simulation of daily routines of 20 minutes of exposure. Each routine was confronted with the curves that determine the daily exposure limit values in accordance with ISO 2631-1 (1997) in order to classify which the potential health risks that exposure to vibration can offer. The results shows that the use of the plates must have some kind of control, given that the simulated routines obtained accelerations which according to the standard, for long-term, has great potential to bring health risks.

Thoracic vibrations in stingless bees (Melipona seminigra): resonances of the thorax influence vibrations associated with flight but not those associated with sound production

(COMPANY OF BIOLOGISTS LTD, 2008)Bees generate thoracic vibrations with their indirect flight muscles in various behavioural contexts. The main frequency component of non-flight vibrations, during which the wings are usually folded over the abdomen, is ...
