It is possible to affirm with certainty that the greatest achievement of dollarization is having managed to stabilize Ecuador's economy, a necessary condition for economic growth, but not sufficient to change the structural conditions of production in the country. In this framework, the renegotiation or non-payment of the external debt, as a policy of the Government of Rafael Correa, could mean savings for the State or an increase in the level of country risk, an index managed at the international level. The way in which this issue is handled will have an important influence on the political and economic future of the country.Es posible afirmar con certeza que el mayor logro de la dolarización es el haber conseguido estabilizar la economía del Ecuador, condición necesaria para el crecimiento económico, pero no suficiente para cambiar las condiciones estructurales de producción del país. En este marco, la renegociación o el no pago de la deuda externa, como política del Gobierno de Rafael Correa, podría significar un ahorro para el Estado o un incremento en el nivel de riesgo país, índice manejado a nivel internacional. La forma en que se maneje este tema influirá de manera importante en el futuro político y económico del país.
