In Ecuador, the study of anthropology as a social science has had a greater study than that of anthropology linked to economics, despite the existence of studies, such as that of Bronislaw Malinowski (1992), which had an important influence on the understanding of the functioning of the economy in the native peoples of the Western Pacific. Throughout this document, some basic concepts and definitions are analyzed that allow a better understanding of the behavior and functioning of the economic system in current societies, to finally make an approximation to the understanding of non-industrial economic systems.En el Ecuador, el estudio de la antropología como ciencia social ha tenido un mayor estudio que el de la antropología vinculada a lo económico, a pesar de existir estudios, como el de Bronislaw Malinowski (1992), que tuvo una influencia importante en la comprensión del funcionamiento de la economía en los pueblos nativos del Pacífico Occidental. A lo largo de este documento se analiza algunos conceptos y definiciones básicas que permite entender de mejor manera el comportamiento y funcionamiento del sistema económico en las sociedades actuales, para finalmente realizar una aproximación al entendimiento de los sistemas económicos no industriales.
