Leukemia is a chronic disease that affects children around the world. This cancer not only affects the child’s life, it also creates a difficult environment around him, changing dramatically his family core. The pre- school age is an important period in which the child develops capacities and skills which will become part of their integral process of growing. When a little child suffers this disease, he/she must spend most of his/her time in hospitals, some of them must even live there for long periods. For this reason, it is very important the collaboration of all the people around him/her, specially of their family. In order to assure a suitable environment for the child and improve theiremotional condition, experts recommend games and playful activities.  The aim of this kind of activities is to keep strength the spirit and hope. El cáncer incide en el niño y en su entorno familiar y social de forma devastadora. Posiblemente ninguna experiencia  vital tiene tal capacidad para alterar la vida del núcleo familiar. La leucemia es una enfermedad crónica que afecta a los niños y a su familia. La edad preescolar es el período en el que se desarrollan muchas capacidades y potencialidades que constituirán la base para un desarrollo integral del niño, por esto que se debe exigir la colaboración de todas las personas de su entorno para asegurar un ambiente adecuado y posibilitar los medios para proporcionar al niño un estado emocional favorable, en el que pueda desarrollar sus capacidades medianteel juego y las actividades lúdicas.  La educadora especial cumple con el objetivo de ayudar a sobrellevar la enfermedad a los pacientes mediante actividades recreativas, necesarias para conservar firmes elespíritu y las esperanzas.
