The research “Touristic potential in the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas from the Assessment of its Tourism Heritage” is executed to determine the strengths that the province has for the sustainable developmentof its people using tourismas a generator of its economy. An analysis of the current reality of the province through direct observation and library research in its economy, politic, social, geographic, ecologic and culture. We studied the heritage tourism through the identification, classification and valuation of the tourist attractions, the classification and valuation of the services or finding tourist activities and infrastructure. Tourism potential was determined from the evaluation of heritage tourism. As evidences hows a new study of the history of SantoDomingo de los Tsáchilas; an updated description of the characteristics of each parish, a complete inventory and valued tourismand tourism heritage using description that could be given to their territory. We visited all campuses and parishes. The collection of information was previously developed chip, interviews and talks with experts, attending seminars andevents, provincial and parochial. The results indicate that Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas has enough potential for the development of Sustainable Tourism, in all its territory and in many different ways.La investigación “Potencialidades Turísticas de la Provincia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas a partir de la Valoración de su Patrimonio Turístico¨ se ejecutó para determinar las fortalezas que la provincia posee para el desarrollo sostenible de su población utilizando al turismo como generador de su economía. Se realizó un análisis de la realidad actual de la provincia mediante la observación directa y la investigación bibliográfica en sus aspectos económicos, políticos, sociales, geográficos, ecológicos y culturales. Se estudió el patrimonio turístico mediante la identificación, clasificación y valoración de los atractivos turísticos, la clasificación y valoración de los servicios o actividades turísticas y la constatación de la infraestructura. Se determinó las potencialidades turísticas a partir de la valoración del patrimonio turístico. Como evidencias se muestran un nuevo estudio de la historia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas; una descripción actualizada de las características de cada parroquia; un inventario completo y valorado de su patrimonio turístico y la descripción de los usos turísticos que podrían darse a su territorio. Se visitó todos los recintos y parroquias. La recopilación de información se hizo en fichas previamente elaboradas, entrevistas y consultas a expertos, participación en seminarios y eventos provinciales y parroquiales. Los resultados indican que Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas tiene suficientes potencialidades para el desarrollo del Turismo Sostenible, en todo su territorio y de muy diferentes formas.
