Resumen
Corn is a crop of great importance worldwide, therefore most producers seek to determine the
productive yield of their crop and for this, the chlorophyll content is essential since it is
considered the most relevant plant property for the estimation of productivity. Based on this
information, the present research aims to evaluate the chlorophyll content in the reproductive
stage (R3) of the maize (Zea mays) crop, to estimate its yield using remote sensing
techniques. We worked in three productive plots located in the parishes of Nulti (A and B) and
El Valle (C). During the R3 stage, a photogrammetric flight was carried out with the Parrot
Sequoia sensor incorporated to an unmanned aerial vehicle, post-processing was performed
and multispectral images were obtained, then the Red Border Vegetation Index (NDRE) was
calculated and contrasted with information acquired through the atLeaf CHL-PLUS chlorophyll
meter for the validation of this technique. In addition, the survey of productive variables and
the pertinent statistical analyses were carried out. The results show a high positive correlation
for plot A (R2 = 0.79), while plots B and C obtained a moderate positive correlation (R2 = 0.69;
R2 = 0.65 respectively). Regarding yield, the results indicated that there is a moderate
correlation (R2 = 0.74) with the NDRE index, which means that this technique is a non-invasive
alternative for the estimation of maize crop yield.
