Resumen
Sexuality constitutes a central aspect of the human being, the WHO defines it as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being; where sexuality is expressed through thoughts, fantasies, desires, beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviors and interpersonal relationships; Within this framework, masturbation is a highly relevant sexual practice. The purpose of this work was to identify how female students of the Nursing Career at the University of Cuenca perceive female masturbation. Methodologically, we worked with a qualitative, phenomenological design, in young female adults from the Nursing Career at the University of Cuenca. The sample was non-probabilistic by means of opinion and convenience sampling, establishing the number of participants until the information was saturated. Structured surveys with open questions were used for data collection. According to the results obtained, it is concluded that female masturbation consists of self-pleasure, its objective is to generate pleasure and reach orgasm, it is a way of knowing oneself and knowing how to satisfy oneself sexually. It brings benefits such as: pleasure, happiness, relaxation, helps to fall asleep, etc. Religion significantly influences the perception of this practice, coming to be classified as bad, impure, stains the image of the person and desecrates the temple of God. These issues must be treated truthfully and openly, so we will avoid misinformation and contribute to making favorable decisions regarding masturbation and sexuality.
