Resumen
In Ecuador, the role of information for planning and territorial planning aimed at facilitating public
management in the territories, conceptualized from the systemic complexity, has undergone a
series of transformations in its generation - analysis - diffusion cycle. This article raises the
understanding of the interactions between territorial information, planning and public management
with emphasis on local territories, within the framework of the power-knowledge relationship, from
new concepts and methods in the knowledge generation process Geospatial. The reflections
generated around the information for planning and management, lead to the design and
implementation of the "Virtual City and Territory-Lavcite Laboratory", which, using information and
communication technologies, constitutes an instrumental modality for territorial planning in
Ecuador
