The “páramo” was for a very long time, an under valuated ecosystem, by government policies, the need for productive land, and the citizens; there, a human group was relegated, learned their identity and cohabitated with these area; but, without being distant from the economic necessity, they over used the fragile natural space. Later, the vital function that this ecosystem plays was understood.El páramo fue por mucho tiempo, un ecosistema subvalorado, por las políticas del gobierno, la necesidad de tierras productivas y los ciudadanos; allí, un grupo humano fue relegado, aprendió su identidad y cohabitó con ésta área; mas, sin ser ajenos a las necesidades económicas, sobre explotaron el frágil espacio natural. Posteriormente, la función vital que desempeña dicho ecosistema fue entendida. La falta de educación, salud y la desventaja en condiciones de bienestar, impulsaron en la zona un sinnúmero de intervenciones de carácter social y ambiental.UNACH, Sede Ecuador.
