COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION AND SOCIAL MOVEMENTS IN COLLECTIVE ACTION PROCESSES

Resumen
The mass media are born from social organization and dispute with traditional media that have tried to homogenize information. This dispute is presented in the form of collective action, configuring new social subjects that build symbolic spaces for participation and social struggle. The work of the new social movements is to configure communication as a cultural and symbolic fact where the communicator and his audiences are constructed as political, critical and participatory subjects. This work uses the theoretical-reflexive methodology, through which the central categories such as social movements, collective action and community communication are articulated. Community communication is considered the other communication due to its display of information that forms around networks of collective action. It is concluded that community communication displaces the meaning of traditional journalism and replaces offices with symbolic places that can be spaces for political confrontation.

Los medios de comunicación comunitaria nacen de la organización social y entran en disputa con los medios tradicionales que han intentado homogenizar la información, esta disputa se presenta en forma de acción colectiva configurando a nuevos sujetos sociales que se construyen en espacios simbólicos de participación y lucha social. El trabajo de los nuevos movimientos sociales está en configurar a la comunicación como un hecho cultural y simbólico en donde el comunicador y sus audiencias se construyen como sujetos políticos, críticos y participativos. Este trabajo utiliza la metodología teórico-reflexiva, a través de la cual se articulan las categorías centrales como movimientos sociales, acción colectiva y comunicación comunitaria. Se considera a la comunicación comunitaria como la otra comunicación debido a su despliegue de información que se forma alrededor de las redes de acción colectiva. Se concluye que la comunicación comunitaria desplaza el significado de un periodismo tradicional y reemplaza las oficinas por lugares simbólicos que pueden espacios de confrontación política.
