ABSTRACT
In Los Esteros Parish, belonging to the Manta Canton of the Manabí Province, the construction project of the new Los Esteros Market is being developed; which generates great expectations in the inhabitants of the area because it promotes social and economic development but also generates concerns about the environmental impacts that this could cause, such as the increase in the generation of solid waste, that is why it is proposed to carry out An Environmental Impact Assessment where the impacts caused by each of the activities contemplated in the project in its construction phase, operation and maintenance phase and closure phase are identified. The impacts associated with the development of this project can be both positive and negative. The environmental components affected with negative impacts are the perceptual environment, air, soil, water, flora and fauna; while those that are influenced in a positive way are the infrastructure, human and economy. The importance of identifying environmental impacts of a project lies in the fact that based on the Environmental Impact Assessment, a set of preventive, corrective and improvement measures are proposed in order to control, mitigate, correct and reduce environmental impacts; These measures are presented in an Environmental Management Plan that in turn is made up of nine sub-plans in which its objective, responsible entity and the corresponding activities are established.
Keywords: Social, economic, positive and negative impacts.
