| dc.description | El déficit de los centros de atención integral para la población adulta mayor ha dado paso al cuestionamiento de la realidad actual de la tercera edad mediante una investigación que recae en el análisis del incremento de la población de la tercera edad en un futuro, por lo que el envejecimiento y los cambios sociales constituyen uno de los retos más importantes para la sociedad para el mejoramiento de su calidad de vida. A raíz del abandono familiar, bajos ingresos económicos, problemas de salud, marginación ante la sociedad y el deficiente servicio de salud, de la población de la tercera edad. Por esto resultó fundamental aterrizar la investigación en un área de estudio cuya elección respondió a la ausencia de espacios de atención siendo escogido el cantón Santa Ana, ubicada en la parte centro suroeste de Manabí, por cumplir con características idóneas de estudio. El enfoque de la investigación se orientó en determinar mediante un diagnóstico las características de los espacios de atención integral del adulto mayor y su área de influencia en el cantón ya mencionado. Lo cual fue posible mediante una metodología en la que se desarrollaron investigaciones de tipo documental y de campo que permitieron dilucidar las necesidades, características y aflicciones que presentó la población del cantón Santa Ana enmarcados dentro del grupo de adulto mayor. Para finalmente y en base a los datos obtenidos e identificados, determinar las cualidades y características espaciales y arquitectónicas capaces de solventar las necesidades del sujeto en cuestión y por ende mejorar su calidad de vida. ABSTRACT The deficit of comprehensive care centers for the elderly population has given way to questioning the current reality of the elderly through an investigation that focuses on the analysis of the increase in the population of the elderly in the future, so aging and social changes constitute one of the most important challenges for society to improve their quality of life. As a result of family abandonment, low income, health problems, marginalization from society and the deficient health service, of the elderly population. For this reason, it was essential to land the research in a study area whose choice responded to the absence of care spaces, the Santa Ana canton, located in the southwestern central part of Manabí, being chosen for meeting the ideal characteristics of the study. The focus of the research was oriented to determine, through a diagnosis, the characteristics of the comprehensive care spaces for the elderly and their area of influence in the canton. This was possible through a methodology in which documentary and field-type investigations were developed that made it possible to elucidate the needs, characteristics and afflictions presented by the population of the Santa Ana canton framed within the elderly group. To finally, and based on the data obtained and identified, determine the spatial and architectural qualities and characteristics capable of meeting the needs of the subject in question and therefore improve their quality of life.
